Consular Visas
A visa is the Embassy or Consulate authorization, expressed by means of a document
printed or attached to a passport or other valid document for international transit
purposes. It enables the foreign national subject to visa requirements, to present
himself/herself in a place assigned for international people transit and request,
according to the visa type and the corresponding immigration form, his/her admission to
the national territory. A visa is granted based on the criteria set forth by the immigration
authority.

- The visa may state the requirements
accreditation to obtain an immigration
status, characteristic and category
with which the foreign national seeks
to enter the country.
- Foreign nationals who need a visa
shall obtain it personally at the
diplomatic and consular offices of the
Mexican Foreign Service.
- Obtaining a consular visa does not
guarantee a foreign national the right
to enter the national territory. This desition corresponds to the immigration authority at
the port of entry.
